History
Rudra Pratap Singh, the chief of the Bundela established Orchha somewhere in the 16th century. Later on, the Mughals ruled the city. Vir Singh, a later successor of Pratap Singh, merged his city with the Union of India, after independence. Subsequently, Orchha became a part of the Madhya Pradesh in the mid 1950s. Today, the city holds importance only because of its architectural heritage. Some of the sites are taken under the UNESCO World Heritage sites. The most magnetic locations for the tourists here are the beautiful and massive buildings.
Khajuraho is the most looked for places when the tourists wish to have a feel of the ancient tradition of India. Here, you can find some of the best-carved medieval Hindu and Jain temples. Khajuraho was the capital of the Chandela Rajputs in the time span from 10th to 12th centuries. Earlier, there were almost 80 Hindu temples, out of which just 22 are alive. Fortunately, the Muslim invaders never invaded these temples. Recently, the British revived these forgotten temples.

Besides that, there are 14 awesome cenotaphs alongside the Betwa River. There are a few tombs also that are famous for the carvings on the buildings. Once you visit this place, you should savor the grand architectural heritage of the city.
Khajuraho is famous for its temples carved with sublime and sensuous sculptures and the erotic carvings on the walls of the temples. The famous temples include the names of Chitragupta, Ghantai, Kandariya Mahadeo, and Parsvnath. Also, there are two temples in south of the city which are Duladeo and Chaturbhuj that is known for its 3m high effigy of Vishnu.
